Our primary school project in Alyth, Perthshire is progressing well with Phase 1 targeted to be completed for the start of the Autumn term 2017. Marshall Construction are delivering the project for Perth & Kinross Council as part of the Hub East Central programme.
The project is comprised of the alteration and extension of a Grade- B Victorian school building within Phase 1 and the demolition of an existing 1960’s primary school and delivery of new landscape and parking layout within Phase 2 which is due to complete later in the year.
The building takes a courtyard form to unite the nursery, primary and public elements of the project and to create a protected external learning space. The principle of ‘shared learning’ is key and is realised through open-plan classrooms, break-out spaces and a terrace which extends from the first floor library to overlook the central courtyard.
Robert Marshall, Managing Director, Marshall Construction commented “We’re delighted to be continuing our partnership with Perth & Kinross Council and Hub East Central Scotland in constructing modern and sustainable learning environments that will benefit local communities for years to come. It’s exciting to have reached this major milestone and know that work will soon be nearing completion, making the new and improved Alyth Primary School a reality. I very much look forward to seeing the School open and seeing pupils being taught in modern, first-class facilities”.
